Professionals from different industrial sectors, mainly technical staff and managers from companies in the province of Castelló, together with members of the university community, attended the conference “Inteligencia económica para la toma de decisiones estratégicas” [Economic Intelligence for Strategic Decision Making], where they put this knowledge to good use in the strategic decision-making process. This conference, held at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the UJI, was organised by the Vittoriano Bitossi Partnership Programme for Sustainable Innovation, in collaboration with the Master’s Degree in Economic Intelligence of the Universitat Jaume I.

The event began with a presentation by Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, former director of the Department of National Security of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, in which the international geopolitical and economic panorama and its trends were presented, and the situation faced by companies at an international level was outlined.

In the second presentation, the director of the Port Authority of Castellón, Manuel José García, addressed the logistical challenges facing industry in Castellón and also explained how the Port Authority analyzes the current logistical situation.

After the presentations, representatives of the companies Colorobbia, Billa, the Port Valencia Foundation and the Castellón Chamber of Commerce participated in a round table to discuss the logistics and value chain management challenges facing industry in Castellón. In this context, they highlighted the importance of economic intelligence not only to minimize negative impacts on economic activity, but also as a key instrument to anticipate market movements.

During the conference, institutional support was also highlighted as fundamental for Spanish industry to be able to face the challenges that threaten its continuity and the importance of promoting synergies between companies to provide tools that facilitate strategic decision making.
